"Be careful for nothing; but in every thing by prayer and supplication with thanksgiving let your requests be made known unto God." Philippians 4:6
I can't emphasize prayer enough. "Pray without ceasing." 1 Thessalonians 5:17 "Therefore I say unto you, What things soever ye desire, when ye pray, believe that ye receive them, and ye shall have them." Mark 11:24 "Ask, and it shall be given you; seek, and ye shall find; knock, and it shall be opened unto you:" Matthew 7:7 When something is repeated through the Word of God, it is wise for the reader to pay close attention to it. From cover to cover the Bible is filled with prayer. It was written with prayer, it is recited with prayer, it is read with prayer, it is the Book of Prayer, and if we are a called people, we must be PEOPLE of prayer. Prayer is the power of God through us. It is bringing your fears to God and allowing Him to take them so you don't have to anymore.
When we work, we work. When we pray, God works, and it is so much more vital for our families, for our country, for our culture and for our ethics that God work in them, otherwise we will never see any significant or important growth. Many foundations of this nation were founded upon prayer. Our country thrived on it, and now without it we have seen more hurt, hate, and bitterness than every before. If we got back to a people of prayer, we could see this country turn around.
During the Covid-19 pandemic, many churches saw substantial growth (maybe not physically, but they saw it on their online services). Many churches, I believe missed the mark on their prayer. They would rather keep their doors open in disobedience to the short mandated closures to "prove a point" or something. They had the perfect opportunity to pray and see God work, but instead their pride kept the doors open and God hurt them. We are experiencing revival, and the only way to see true revival become effectual revival is if we pray in our down times.
Don't be afraid of your paycheck being lost. Don't be afraid that the congregations are not meeting. Don't be afraid that the church doors are closed for the time being. Be afraid of not praying through it. My favorite quote from D.L. Moody is "Careful for nothing, prayerful for everything, thankful for anything." Let's be an example of prayer today by showing how significant it is to the moving of God in our lives.
