"The fear of the Lord tendeth to life: and he that hath it shall abide satisfied; he shall not be visited with evil." Proverbs 19:23
I knew of a teenage boy who attended a party with his cousin. Family is usually the most trustworthy of people when it comes to safety and security, or at least they are suppose to be. This teenage boy was not one to start problems or really even get involved with people who would. His cousin, however, had caused a conflict that neither one knew would escalate to what they were about to experience this night. After the party finished, they headed out into the driveway where they were met by several angry individuals with knives. Both were stabbed. The cousin lived with major injuries but the teenage boy who was innocent to the entire scenario bled out and died in this driveway.
When we fear God, we usually don't find ourselves in these types of positions because we would avoid parties like this altogether. This young teenage boy died in the worst of ways, undeservingly and unknowingly. But I do believe that if this boy or even his cousin knew Christ they would have never even ascertained the idea of going to a party of such caliber. It is prevalent that parents teach their kids to fear the LORD. This verse states that when we fear God, we will be satisfied with it and we will not be visited with evil.
All too many times we find ourselves in situations that we don't need to be in all because we aren't focusing on the Lord like we should be. Proverbs 3:6 says, "In all thy ways acknowledge him, and he shall direct thy paths." Let God direct your path. Let Him have the ultimate say in which direction you go and what actions you make. When we do this, we don't have to worry about being in the wrong places.
