Day 6: Faithful To Forgive

"If we confess our sins, he is faithful and just to forgive us our sins, and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness." 1 John 1:9

Pride always gets in our way. When someone has done us wrong, our first instinct is to get even or to be unforgiving towards that person. How sad that so many relationships are destroyed because we are too prideful to forgive and forget past events. Pride is a dangerous thing to work with. Proverb 16:18 says, "Pride goeth before destruction, and an haughty spirit before a fall." Oh how much destruction we could avoid if we would simple humble ourselves and be done with it. Many times the cause of pride is from trying to prove something stupid and small.

Pride is one of the biggest sins because it leads way for further sin. It causes us to think that we can handle things in our own power and not have to rely on God for it. When this happen, we take it out on others, and when we take it out on others we cause division. Proverbs 6:16-19 says, "These six things doth the Lord hate: yea, seven are an abomination unto him: A proud look, a lying tongue, and hands that shed innocent blood, An heart that deviseth wicked imaginations, feet that be swift in running to mischief, A false witness that speaketh lies, and he that soweth discord among brethren." just looking proud is an abomination of the Lord, and when you are proud in how much more you may be doing than someone else, it causes you to see others in a false light which then leads to lying, which then leads to sowing seeds of discord and causing strife between innocent people.

Many of us are not willing to forgive and forget. We let our pride get in the way, but God is willing and waiting to forgive. He WANTS to forgive. All we must do is come to Him with the knowledge of what we have done, acknowledging we have done it, and He is ready to pardon and to forget it. Literally FORGET it. "And their sins and iniquities will I remember no more." Hebrews 10:17 God is so good and His faithfulness is so infinite and patience so deep that when we are ready He is willing, and when we come to Him He is satisfied.
